Will NIH Repay Your Student Loans?

The NIH LRP has helped many scientists reduce their educational debt and continue their research careers. In exchange for a two-year research commitment, NIH will repay qualified educational debt up to $50,000 per year. Applicants must meet the following criteria: have a doctoral degree (M.D., Ph.D., or equivalent); research must be funded by a domestic nonprofit, university, or government entity; educational loan debt equal to at least 20 percent of your annual salary; conduct research for an average of at least 20 hours/week; and be a U.S. Citizen or permanent resident.
The 2022 application cycle for LRP awards will open September 1, 2022, and closes on November 17, 2022. More information about eligibility and the application process can be found on the LRP website.
