Research Intelligence and Analytics

The Research Intelligence and Analytics (RIA) team is a unit of the Medical School Office of Research. Our primary mission is to provide strategic decision support for Medical School’s research mission through the execution of complex data-driven investigations, often in collaboration with internal and external partners.

Through the development of new scientometrics, the Research Intelligence and Analytics unit seeks to offer better insight into the research enterprise. As one of the first units of our kind in the world, RIA leverages advanced statistical modeling, artificial intelligence/machine learning, and the ever-growing availability of big data to tailor accurate, precise, and meaningful intelligence solutions to administrators and faculty leaders. Our work spans from retrospective financial analysis to competitive intelligence to predictive models of future impact.

In addition to the investigation of new scientometrics, we pride ourselves on the translation of our findings into easily accessible presentations and interactive visualizations. In past years, we have created and implemented bespoke operations dashboards for a number of service units within the Medical School, emphasizing measures of quality, efficiency and effectiveness.
