Reference List of Freelance Editors

In response to faculty interest in the availability of editing services, the Medical School Office of Research has developed a list of freelance editors, including their credentials. While we encourage faculty members to use internal resources, we know that we may not have the capacity to meet the demand.

Internal resources for editing services include:

  • Jill Jividen, (734) 764-3634, UMMS Office of Research – Jill is an experienced interdisciplinary proposal writer who will edit, as time permits, external grant applications for grammar and grantsmanship issues.
  • MICHR Research Development Core (RDC) – Provides no-cost services and consultation to assist investigators in designing, writing, and submitting external grant proposals.

Below find a list of editors who may be contacted for freelance work for various types of writing,
e.g., grant proposals, manuscripts, IRB applications, dissertations. Please refer to the editor’s CV/resume for more information about his or her expertise and experience. If interested, please contact the editor to negotiate the work statement/pay arrangements.

NOTE: If you hire a University of Michigan employee to do freelance work, please refer to: UM Standard Practice Guide 201.85 - Non-Appointment Related University Compensation. In accordance with U-M Procurement Services policies, a University of Michigan P-Card should not be used for payments of this nature, and any agreement should be signed by Procurement Services, not the individual unit. Please refer to the U-M Procurement Services website for additional information.

If you have any comments or questions about this list, please contact Jill Jividen at (jjgoff@umich.edu) or (734) 764-3634.
