Stephanie Ferrera is a Research Administrator Intermediate supporting Pre-Award activities for both Heart, Vessel, Blood and the Acute, Critical Care, Surgery & Transplant Clinical Trial Support Units. Stephanie joins the University of Michigan with three years of experience as a Sr. Pre-Award Specialist at Karmanos Cancer Institute. In her role, she supported the Clinical Trials Office through budget and contract negotiations for oncology trials while managing amendments and FCOI for the Institute. She has previous work experience through various health care systems as a Hospital-Based Community Health Worker (CHW) supporting the Medicare Community-Based Care Transitions Program, which was piloted to reduce hospital readmission through educating patients on the key aspects of their discharge.
During her time as a CHW, she graduated from Madonna University with a B.S. in Gerontology and started her first semester of clinicals in the College of Nursing at Madonna University. Although her love of science and helping others did not ultimately lead to a career in nursing, she excitedly looks forward to expanding her knowledge base by obtaining a M.S. in Clinical Research Administration. Stephanie’s fondest memories are recalling the time spent with her father on campus while he pursued his M.D. in Internal Medicine at the University of Michigan. She enjoys spending time with her rambunctious fur babies (Mavi and Sammie) and camping trips in the summer with her husband.
