Serena Giovinazzi, Ph.D., is the Quality Assurance Manager for the University of Michigan Medical School Central Biorepository (UMMS CBR). She ensures regulatory and quality requirements are met for biospecimen procurement, processing, storage according to local and federal standards, and biorepository accrediting bodies, such as the College of American Pathologists (CAP) Biorepository Accreditation Program. She also serves as the Quality Process Manager for the Kidney Precision Medicine Project (KPMP).
Dr. Giovinazzi holds a Ph.D. from the University of Florida, College of Medicine, and is a Certified Public Manager. Previously, Dr. Giovinazzi served as Quality Assurance Manager for the Food Safety Laboratories at the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services where she ensured the administration of the ISO/IEC 17025:2017 standard and regulatory requirements established by state, federal, and local authorities.
