Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) Eye Protection

Based on updated CDC recommendations and guidelines issued by the U-M Medical Group, please remember to wear eye protection when providing care to patients and when in patient room/care space. Please note, MCRU will not be supplying eye protection for study teams but is able to provide protection in an emergency situation. Study teams should plan to bring eye protection with them for scheduled patient visits within MCRU.

MCRU currently provides the following PPE:

  • Gowns
  • Gloves
  • Surgical Earloop Masks
  • N95 Masks

MCRU Lab Pass-through Window Installation

In the coming weeks, the door to MCRU lab will be modified to have a pass-through window installed. Following the installation of the pass-through window, the lab door will be locked at all times, and access to the lab will be prohibited unless special permission has been granted. A newly installed doorbell and iPad will assist in MCRU services detailed below.

For kit or sample drop-off:

  1. Log kit or sample drop-off into iPad (cleaned after each use)
  2. Ring doorbell for MCRU assistance

For requisitions:

  1. Ring doorbell for assistance
  2. Provide HUM numbers and PI name to MCRU staff
  3. MCRU staff will pull and provide requisitions for study(s) requested

For lab-specific questions:

  1. Ring doorbell for assistance

Lab Kits Drop-off Reminder

With the research enterprise ramping back up, MCRU is beginning to resume normal operations. As a reminder, bring lab kits to the lab at least 24 hours prior to the visit. MCRU is able to hold kits a week in advance for convenience. Please send MCRU-Corelab (MCRU-Corelab@med.umich.edu) email notification if kits will be dropped off late in order to accommodate space requirements mandated by the university. As with MCRU's standard requirement, please ensure all late drop-offs have labels, requisitions, etc. filled out properly prior to dropping off the kit.
