How to Connect to OnCore from a Remote Location (outside of the UMHS network)

March 7, 2019

Study teams may not always have the ability to connect to OnCore from the UMHS network. To assist OnCore users encountering this issue, the OnCore Application Support Team has found a solution for when teams may need to connect remotely by using the Cisco AnyConnect Secure Mobility Client. Follow the helpful step-by-step instructions below to learn how to access OnCore from a remote location.

First, open The Cisco AnyConnect Secure Mobility Client which should be installed on all UMHS Core Image machines. On Windows machines, click on the window in the lower left corner, scroll to the CISCO folder, and open the Cisco Connect Security Mobility Application.

Then, follow these five steps:

  1. Confirm the UMHS SSL VPN is available.
  2. Enter your Level 1 password
  3. Click OK
  4. At the DUO prompt to your cell phone, click ‘APPROVE.’
  5. This will activate a VPN connection from a remote location.
