The U-M Medical School Office of Research is currently accepting applications for the 2023-24 Cohort of its R01 Boot Camp program.
Applications for both mentees and coaches are due on Monday, May 15, 2023.
Mentees CLICK HERE to apply.
Coaches CLICK HERE to apply.
Since the program’s inception in 2013, the success rate of R01 Boot Camp graduates obtaining ≥ one R01-equivalent grant within 36 months of completing the program is nearly 40%. In addition, mentees have received hundreds of other federal, non-profit and foundation grants after successfully completing the program.
R01 Boot Camp is an intensive mentorship program designed to help early career faculty receive their first NIH Research Project Grants (R01, or equivalent). While developing proposals over the 9-month course, mentees attend a variety of workshops on topics such as grant writing, budgeting, and constructing components of the grant application.
Throughout the program, mentees and their teams are guided by faculty coaches with established track records of external funding. Mentees also receive 1:1 feedback from an Internal Subject Matter Expert who helps review research plans and proposal drafts. Additional opportunities, including writing accountability groups and external proposal review, are available to program participants.
If you are interested in participating as either a mentee (faculty who have not yet been PIs on R01-equivalent grant) or coach (senior faculty who have a history of NIH funding and an interest in mentoring), please complete the appropriate application on UMMS Competition Space.
